These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of The Modern Shrine ("The Modern Shrine," "we," "us," or "our"), which operates from Singapore, including our website, account features, guided prompts, free tools, workshop experiences, birth-profile tools, paid products, and AI chat experiences (collectively, the "Service").

By accessing or using the Service, creating an account, submitting a form, purchasing a product, or using the AI chat, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What The Modern Shrine provides

The Modern Shrine provides educational, reflective, pattern-based tools for decision support. This may include AI chat, guided prompts, workshop intake flows, BaZi-inspired and astrology-inspired interpretation, birth-profile tools, AI Operating System playbooks, and related content for work, wealth, relationships, career, founder decisions, and life design.

Content provided through the Service, including chart calculations, generated profiles, AI readings, prompt outputs, symbolic interpretations, and framework-based reflections, is provided for cultural, informational, educational, and self-reflection purposes only.

The Service is designed to help you reflect, notice patterns, ask better questions, and make more intentional decisions. It is not designed to make decisions for you.

2. Eligibility and account registration

You must be at least 16 years old, or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction, to use the Service. Some experiences may be intended for adults or workshop participants only. By using the Service, you confirm that you have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms and that your use complies with applicable law.

If you create an account, you agree to provide accurate information, keep your login credentials secure, and notify us if you believe your account has been accessed without permission. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.

You are responsible for the accuracy of birth dates, birth times, locations, profile details, workshop responses, and other information you submit. Incorrect or incomplete information may affect generated outputs, chart context, and AI responses.

3. Educational and reflective use only

The Modern Shrine provides educational and self-reflection tools. We do not provide financial, investment, legal, tax, medical, psychological, therapeutic, career, hiring, relationship, or other professional advice.

Any content related to astrology, BaZi, Chinese metaphysics, personality, relationships, career, wealth, timing, compatibility, or life decisions is provided for informational, educational, and self-reflection purposes only. You remain responsible for your own choices, actions, relationships, career moves, investments, and decisions.

You should seek qualified professional advice where your situation requires it. This is especially important for medical, mental health, legal, financial, investment, tax, immigration, employment, safety, or emergency matters.

4. AI-generated and interpretive content

AI-generated outputs may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, symbolic, or interpretive. BaZi-inspired, astrology-inspired, and pattern-based outputs should not be treated as guaranteed predictions, factual determinations, or instructions you must follow.

AI-generated reading text and other generated outputs are delivered to you for personal, reflective, and internal use. You may save, print, or share your own outputs for personal purposes, provided you do not misrepresent them as professional advice, guaranteed predictions, or human-authored expert conclusions.

You are responsible for reviewing, verifying, and deciding how to use any AI-generated content. Do not represent AI-generated content as professional advice, guaranteed prediction, or verified factual analysis unless you have independently confirmed it.

Similar or identical AI-generated outputs may be produced for other users. You should not assume that an AI-generated response is unique to you or exclusively owned by you.

5. Astrology, BaZi, and symbolic systems

The Modern Shrine may use BaZi, Chinese metaphysics, astrology-inspired language, symbolic pattern systems, and related frameworks as reflective decision-support tools. These systems are interpretive by nature and may vary by practitioner, methodology, data source, and model output.

BaZi, astrology, symbolic interpretation, and related pattern systems are traditional or cultural interpretation systems. They are not scientifically validated decision engines and should not be used as a substitute for professional judgment, evidence-based advice, or your own responsibility.

We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, usefulness, or outcome of any chart, interpretation, timing suggestion, forecast, compatibility reflection, or AI-generated reading. You use these features at your own discretion and risk.

6. User content and license

You may submit prompts, messages, profile details, birth information, workshop responses, uploads, feedback, and other content to the Service ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content.

You grant The Modern Shrine a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, process, transmit, display, and use your User Content as needed to provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Service. This includes sending relevant content to service providers and AI infrastructure where needed to generate responses or operate requested features.

You are responsible for ensuring that your User Content is lawful, accurate enough for your intended use, and that you have the rights needed to submit it. Do not submit content that violates another person's rights, privacy, or applicable law.

7. Our intellectual property

The Service, including its software, designs, text, prompts, deterministic or semi-deterministic calculation flows, database structure, frameworks, workflows, brand assets, logos, content, documentation, user interface, and related materials, is owned by The Modern Shrine or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.

We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Service for your personal, educational, or internal business use, subject to these Terms. You may not copy, resell, reproduce, modify, distribute, scrape, or commercially exploit the Service or its content without our written permission.

8. Acceptable use and prohibited activities

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for unlawful, harmful, abusive, fraudulent, or misleading purposes.
• Upload or transmit illegal, defamatory, harassing, obscene, hateful, or infringing content.
• Use the Service to generate content that violates law, third-party rights, or platform policies.
• Generate explicit sexual content or sexual scenarios involving real, private, or named individuals.
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity, affiliation, or authority.
• Interfere with, disrupt, overload, or compromise the Service or related systems.
• Bypass authentication, rate limits, access controls, paywalls, or security measures.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract source code, prompts, models, systems, or proprietary methods.
• Use bots, scrapers, crawlers, automated tools, data mining, or bulk extraction without written permission.
• Bulk-generate readings, profiles, prompts, or outputs for resale, redistribution, or competing commercial use.
• Use the Service to compete with us, clone our product, or build a substantially similar service using our content, prompts, workflows, or outputs.
• Use the Service for emergency, crisis, medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical decision-making.

9. Paid products, pricing, and payments

The Modern Shrine may offer free tools, one-time digital products, workshops, advisory offers, subscriptions, or other paid services. Current pricing and product details are shown on the relevant pricing page, checkout page, invoice, or offer page.

Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers such as Stripe. You agree to provide accurate billing information and to pay all charges, taxes, and fees associated with your purchase. We do not store your full payment card details.

Some products may be one-time purchases. Some may be subscriptions that renew automatically until cancelled. The specific payment, renewal, cancellation, and access terms shown at checkout or in the relevant offer control that purchase.

10. Refunds and cancellations

Unless stated otherwise at checkout or required by applicable law, digital products, prompt packs, AI Operating System playbooks, workshops, and advisory purchases are generally non-refundable once delivered, accessed, downloaded, or started.

If a technical issue prevents delivery of a purchased product or access to a paid experience, contact us at tony@themodernshrine.com. We may, at our discretion, provide support, replacement access, credit, or a refund where appropriate.

11. Service availability and changes

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We aim to keep the Service reliable, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or available at all times.

We may modify, suspend, discontinue, restrict, or remove features, models, prompts, pricing, content, or access at any time. We may also perform maintenance, updates, or changes that cause temporary interruptions.

12. Account suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if we believe you have violated these Terms, created risk for the Service or other users, used the Service unlawfully, attempted fraud or abuse, or otherwise acted in a way that harms The Modern Shrine.

You may stop using the Service at any time. Certain provisions of these Terms will survive termination, including intellectual property rights, payment obligations, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnity, and dispute terms.

13. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information.

14. Third-party services and links

The Service may link to or depend on third-party websites, tools, checkout pages, AI providers, analytics providers, email providers, hosting providers, or other services. We are not responsible for third-party services, content, policies, or practices. Your use of third-party services may be governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

15. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, reliability, availability, and suitability for your specific goals or circumstances.

We do not warrant that any AI output, BaZi-inspired interpretation, astrology-inspired reading, chart, prompt, recommendation, or reflection will be accurate, complete, useful, timely, safe, or appropriate for your situation.

16. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Modern Shrine will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, business interruption, emotional distress, or decisions made based on the Service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid to The Modern Shrine for the Service giving rise to the claim during the six months before the claim arose, or USD $100 if you did not pay us during that period.

17. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless The Modern Shrine from claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from your use of the Service, your User Content, your breach of these Terms, your violation of law, or your infringement of another person's rights.

18. Electronic communications

By using the Service, creating an account, submitting forms, or emailing us, you consent to receive communications electronically. You agree that electronic notices, agreements, disclosures, and records satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing, where permitted by law.

19. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are intended to be interpreted to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. Before starting a formal dispute, you agree to contact us at tony@themodernshrine.com and try to resolve the issue informally.

Unless a different rule is required by applicable consumer protection law, these Terms and any dispute related to the Service will be governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

20. General terms

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms shown for a specific product or checkout, form the agreement between you and The Modern Shrine for the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision does not waive our right to enforce it later. You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign our rights and obligations where permitted by law.

21. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes may be posted on this page, sent by email, or surfaced in the app. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
